WE HAVE THE RECEIPTS: SHAME ON SEVILLE, SPAIN

Every day in the winding alleys of Seville’s Barrio de Santa Cruz, tour groups gather beneath a ceramic plaque of a human skull on Calle Susona. They are told a 540-year-old fairy tale cooked up by the Inquisition, the Roman Catholic Church, and the Crown: that a young Sephardic woman named Shoshana (La Susona) betrayed her own father's "armed treason" for the love of an Old Christian knight, spent her life in weeping Catholic penance, and requested that her severed head be mounted over her doorway as a testament to her eternal shame.

The tour guides retelling this gothic folklore do not know any better. They are reciting an Inquisitorial cover-up that has gone unchallenged in local tourism for centuries. But speaking evil of the dead and parading state libel as romantic history in 2026 is shameful.

The receipts are in, and the myth collapses under forensic scrutiny.

Video 1: The Official Myth (The Tour Guide's Tale)

Watch how the 540-year-old Inquisitorial narrative is still sold to visitors on the streets of Seville today:

Video 2: Another receipt to show this is the official Seville tour guide narrative.

In these versions, the tragedy is sanitized into romantic melodrama:

  • A forbidden romance crosses religious divides.

  • The Jewish and Converso community plots a violent rebellion to slaughter the Inquisitors.

  • Shoshana confesses to save her Christian lover.

  • Her post-mortem severed head hangs as voluntary penance for her "Jewish guilt."

Video 3: The Forensic Truth (The Vindication of the House of Susán)

Watch our cinematic investigation exposing the true intelligence operation, the financial motives, and the halakhic reality:

Our Receipts: Myth vs. Forensic Reality

  • The "Passionate Romance" was a State Honeypot: Under 15th-century Limpieza de Sangre (Blood Purity) statutes, an Old Christian noble consorting with a Converso woman faced absolute social and political ruin. His suitor identity was scrubbed from the historical record to protect state espionage tradecraft and shield his family from social stain. He was an undercover intelligence asset deployed to breach the household of Seville’s wealthiest Converso leader.

  • The "Armed Insurrection" was a Fabricated Cover-Up: Diego de Susán was a financier managing an astronomical 10 million maravedís—a man of ledger books who knew an armed clash against the Castilian Crown was suicidal. Historical analysis of the surviving Codex Colombina manuscripts reveals that the "armed rebellion" line was a post-facto Inquisitorial forgery. The emergency meeting was about logistical survival: liquidating assets and securing exit routes to Portugal. At trial, the Inquisition completely abandoned the treason charge because they had zero evidence, burning Diego solely as a religious "Judaizer" so the Crown could seize his fortune to bankroll the Granada War.

  • The "Confession" was a Weaponized Plea: Raised in a strictly observant, traditional home where modesty (tzniut) governed daily life, Shoshana was systematically groomed with false vows of marriage and protection. In terror as the Inquisitorial net closed in, she begged her handler to use his aristocratic connections to secure safe-conduct passes for her family. The agent twisted her plea for survival into a "confession of armed rebellion" and delivered the community to the stake.

  • The "Will of the Skull" is a Halakhic Impossibility: Under Jewish law, willful body mutilation violates Kevurat Met (the commandment of burial) and Bizayon HaMet (desecration of the dead). Furthermore, under biblical law (Numbers 19:14), human remains project Tumat Ohel (canopy impurity). In the narrow corridor of Calle Susona, where second-story eaves and balconies touch, displaying a skull creates an impurity canopy across the entire alleyway, legally barring and expelling every Kohen (priestly line) from passing or living on the street. A Sephardic daughter would never decree an act that desecrated the Torah and blockaded her neighbors. The skull was a state-hung sanbenito—an instrument of psychological terror to intimidate survivors, later masked by the Church as "pious repentance."

Truth matters. Shoshana was never a traitor; she was a victim of state entrapment whose name was weaponized to legitimize the robbery and murder of her family.

It is time for Seville to take down the sanitized folklore, stop defaming the dead, and face the archival truth. Shoshana de Susán will be cleared, and her memory for a blessing and restored to honor.

The investigation doesn’t end here.

As a Bible teacher, birth doula & retired nurse living in the Old City of Jerusalem, I’ve spent my life assisting in moments of profound transformation.

My own journey reflects this—from a devout Christian home with a passion for prophecy to a new life as a convert to Judaism, I’ve learned that our stories are often one, intertwined narrative.

Today, I see the world in a state of intense, purposeful labor. These are the "birth pangs" of the Final Redemption, and as a "Geula Doula," I am here to breathe with  you through this final, glorious stage of our shared history.
