We are entering the most complex diplomatic window in decades. The world wants a "wrap-up," but Jerusalem is insisting on a cleanup. The tension between rapid diplomatic solutions and lasting security is the defining struggle.

The sky over Jerusalem this morning is a tapestry of slate and silver, carrying the distinct scent of coming rain. It isn't a heavy atmosphere, but rather one of expectant gravity—like a breath held before a prayer. The winter winds are sweeping through the Judean hills, reminding us that even the clouds carry the blessing of water for our land. Here on Mt. Zion, we brace our collars against the chill, clear-eyed and ready for the work of the day.
1. SECURITY ALERT: The Northern Shield Strikes Back
In a significant development overnight, the IAF launched precise waves of airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in Southern Lebanon.
Despite the ceasefire that began in late November, the IDF identified clear violations by Hezbollah, including the reactivation of a training compound for the elite Radwan Force. Israel’s message is unequivocal: The "Day After" does not mean a return to the "Day Before." We are enforcing the terms of quiet with noise.
Why It Matters: This is the test of the new reality. Israel is signaling to the world (and Trump administration) that it will no longer tolerate the "slow creep" of terror infrastructure on its borders.
2. DIPLOMATIC FRONT: The "War of Revival" & The American Plan
Prime Minister Netanyahu, in a fiery Knesset address, termed our current era the "War of Revival," asserting Israel is "stronger than ever" despite global antisemitism.
This comes as the U.S.-brokered "20-Point Plan" (the Trump Peace Plan) pushes toward its fragile "Phase 2"—which calls for the disarmament of Hamas and the return of the final hostage remains, including Master Sgt. Ran Gvili.
Why It Matters: We are entering the most complex diplomatic window in decades. The world wants a "wrap-up," but Jerusalem is insisting on a cleanup. The tension between rapid diplomatic solutions and lasting security is the defining struggle of this winter.
3. INTERNAL LIGHT: A Blessing of Rain
While politics rage, the heavens are doing their work. Significant winter rains are forecast for Jerusalem and the north this week.
In our tradition, rain (Geshem) is not just weather; it is a direct channel of sustenance from the Creator. After a dry summer and a scorching year of war, the filling of the Kinneret and the watering of our fields is a quiet, steady miracle that continues regardless of the headlines. It is a reminder that the Land itself is alive and responding to us.
ZAH Perspective: The Jacob Strategy
We read Parshat Vayishlach last week, and the timing is almost trembling with relevance. Jacob prepares to meet his brother Esau—a force that wants to destroy him. How does he prepare? The Sages tell us he used three tactics: Doron (Diplomacy/Gifts), Tefillah (Prayer), and Milchamah (War).
Look at the headlines today. We see the exact same three pillars. We are engaging in diplomacy (the U.S. plans), we are waging war (strikes in Lebanon), and we must not forget the prayer. Jacob also wrestled with an angel until dawn and refused to let go until he received a blessing. Israel is currently in that wrestling match. It is dark, we are resolute and we will not let go of our history, our Divine covenants or our future until we secure the blessing of peace on our terms.
Advocacy Angle: Social media talking point
"A Ceasefire is not a suicide pact." Israel’s strikes in Lebanon today were not a violation of the truce, but an enforcement of it. We caught Hezbollah rebuilding their 'Radwan' terror force to invade our homes again. By acting now, Israel is preventing the next war, not starting it. Every sovereign nation has the duty to stop terror before it launches.

Prayer Point:
"The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace." (Psalm 29:11)
Please pray for the safety of the pilots and soldiers operating in the North, and for the clarity of mind for our leaders to withstand immense pressure.
