EUROPE: Teen Terror in Paris Thwarted

French counter-terrorism authorities have prevented an imminent attack on the Jewish community, arresting two minors suspected of plotting a violent assault. As reported by Le Parisien and confirmed by judicial sources on Monday, the suspects are both 16 years old. One is a Russian national of Chechen origin who arrived in France four years ago; the other is a French national from the Paris region.

The plot was uncovered after the Chechen teenager sent a disturbing photo on WhatsApp showing himself brandishing a knife with the caption, "I am going to kill Jews in five days." According to the AFP, the investigation revealed he was in contact with the second suspect, and together they were planning to target a "site of religious worship."

France’s national anti-terror prosecutor’s office stated the pair has been charged with "participation in a terrorist criminal association." Alarmingly, this arrest brings the number of minors charged with terror offenses in France to 20 in 2025 alone—surpassing the total for the entire previous year.
