Legacy of Compassion

About Rabbi Aaron Parry, z"l
Rabbi Aaron Parry, z"l (of blessed memory), was a beloved rabbi, author, and educator who dedicated his life to sharing the beauty and wisdom of the Bible and Judaism with warmth and clarity.
At the very heart of his life was an exceptional passion for giving tzedakah (charity). Rabbi Parry was remarkably generous, giving to anyone who asked. He would often anticipate people's needs and give anonymously, with a joyful spirit that disregarded his own. This profound, quiet, and consistent generosity is the core inspiration for this fund.
A teacher and close friend to countless people, Rabbi Parry had a unique gift for making deep Biblical teachings accessible. He was the author of several popular and insightful books, including The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Talmud and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Hebrew Scripture, which helped open up a world of Bible learning to a wide audience.
For decades, he was a pillar of the Los Angeles Jewish community, serving as the Rabbi of Young Israel of Beverly Hills and as a dedicated teacher at institutions like Shalhevet High School and Valley Torah High School.
In his later years, Rabbi Parry and I lived in Tzfat. There, he learned and taught in a Kollel, and for the short time he was there, he deeply inspired and helped many people through his teaching, spiritual guidance, counseling (all without charge), and financial support.
Rabbi Parry, who passed away in 2023 and was laid to rest in Jerusalem, is remembered for his immense kindness, his passion for teaching, and his unwavering commitment to helping others.
with blessings and gratitude,
Mrs. Chaya Yonah

The Rabbi Aaron Parry Fund:
Our Mission: A Legacy of Empathy
The mission of The Rabbi Aaron Parry Fund—to provide essential aid and comfort to widows and orphans in Israel—is a story deeply woven into Rabbi Parry's own life.
Rabbi Parry himself was widowed when his first wife passed away at a young age, leaving him to raise their nine children. This profound life experience gave him a deep, personal understanding of the challenges, loneliness, and needs that families face in the wake of such loss.
As his widow, I established this fund in his continued merit and inspiration. It is my mission to transform our shared experience of loss into a beacon of hope and support, continuing his legacy of compassion by bringing loving aid to widows and orphans in Israel.
Thank you for being a partner in this holy work, both in spiritual and physical redemption.
